The Backbarrow Flood

The Backbarrow Flood - People and Places
December 2015 saw unprecedented high levels of rain in Cumbria. The photograph shows the River Leven that drains Windermere, at Backbarrow. The river has diverted from its normal course and formed a waterfall as the old stone bridge on the right is acting as a dam. If you look carefully to the right of the photo the water can be seen trying to get over the bridge parapet
